7:45 – Two featured Readers! Marcus Wicker and Jill Halpern
Marcus Wicker is an Ann Arbor, Michigan native. A 2011 Ruth Lilly recipient, he has also held fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center, Cave Canem and Indiana University, where he received his MFA. His first book, Maybe the Saddest Thing, was selected by DA Powell for the National Poetry Series and is forthcoming from Harper Collins in 2012. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Poetry, Beloit, jubilat, and Crab Orchard Review, among other journals.
Jill Halpern is a local teacher, activist, poet, storyteller, and tree-and-people-hugger whose award-winning writing celebrates nature, community, kids, peace & justice, and love in all its wild and beautiful forms. She has delighted in sharing her work in diverse venues ranging from Tellabration and Island Park Storydance to the local Zen temple, Lucy Ann Lance Holiday Radio Show, and beyond.
